I posted the info below as part of the "tools and practices" post ... but I felt it could be relevantly listed here as well for "business model" discussion, since the ideas illustrate a number of potential revenue streams.

1. Delivery of Analysis on the PNM, the post-9/11 security environment and the future of globalization
a. Presentations, speeches, briefings

2. Strategic Visioneering or Thinking Systematically About the Future or Long-Range Strategic Planning
a. Presentations, speeches, briefings
b. Consulting, trainings, curriculum development

3. Program, System and/or Organizational Analysis
a. Consulting, trainings, curriculum development

4. Design and Deliver PC-based Powerpoint Briefings
a. Consulting, trainings, curriculum development

Again, this is just an outline ... but hopefully something to get us started.

Critt: Thanks for the links to Dave's other blog re: ManyOne (M1), Digital Universe Fund, et al happenings, conversations, etc.

It helps me to see the big (even bigger than I originally guessed) picture of Dave's universe and how he imagines Tom's work ("Tom's Group") weaving into that.

I know Tom has a select group of people in mind that can walk his walk, (but can they talk his talk?) ... if we think of these folks (for now, absent any thoughts about being responsible financially for them and their families) in the context of how/where/if they might plug into the "Barnett Group" as a high-level strategy design consultancy that offers consulting, training, curriculum, etc. ... who are they are, and how do they fit?

Example:

Joe Schmoo = spot-on curriculum designer
Sally Smith = fantastical analyst trained in the "Barnett Way of Strategic Visioneering"
Mike Lewis = walking, talking presentation-giving clone of Tom
and on and on ...

If these people don't exist is Tom's world now, or if there are holes, then we can begin to think about what we would need in order to offer the consulting, training, curriculum development, etc. services of the Barnett Group consultancy. Initially, is it two people, it is five? Is it 25?

My reasons for bringing this up? Potentially at some point, Dave might come and say, "we can help develop the Barnett Group in order to get this Portal off the ground ... what do you need help with in terms of resources/human capital?" (Dave, do stop me if I'm misreading your current path) ... and my thought is that we should have some idea of what we might want to build the consultancy initially ... (a reeeealllly beeeeg ark!)

Happiest of Fridays to you all,
:)
